Glebe House, Leire
Leire, Leicestershire
This project was commissioned by private clients who owned a grade II listed Georgian farmhouse that they wished to extend to provide a new kitchen, dining room and conservatory, together with changing rooms associated with a swimming pool.
The extension which links the rear of the house to the existing detached outbuildings was designed in close co-operation with the local authority conservation officer.
The form of extension is appropriate vernacular and uses a combination of traditional and modern materials; with exposed green oak trussed rafters clad with slates, and walls of reclaimed facing brickwork but with gable end clad with structural glass to maximise views to the garden.
