Retail Food Store, Carmarthen

Carmarthen

This 87,000 sq ft store was built on the edge of Carmarthen town centre. The site originally consisted of the town car park and Carmarthen Athletic Rugby Club, the latter now re-located into the town.

The site is overlooked by an adjacent conservation area and Victorian town park, accordingly it was necessary that the new store did not effect views from the park, and incorporated an interesting roof scape.

Existing topography necesitated the need for retaining structures to all perimeters, which was utilised into the overall design, using a mix of timber and split face block retaining walls in conjunction with soil nailing.
