Andrew Timothy Bates

Dip (Arch) RIBA

Tim joined GW&H in 1979, becoming an Associate Partner in 1984, Partner in 1989 and a Director in 2000 when the practice was incorporated.

He attained his Diploma in Architecture in 1978 from Leicester Polytechnic School of Architecture (which subsequently became De Montfort University). During his training Tim spent an intermediate year in private practice in Northampton and a final year in Leicester.

In addition to the design and management aspects of Architecture, Tim has followed up a keen interest in horticulture for the design of landscape associated with smaller projects, and has acquired a sound working knowledge of listed building and conservation work.

He has practiced as a Planning Co-ordinator since the introduction of the Construction Design and Management Regulations and finds the knowledge gained invaluable for application to design work.

Outside the office he enjoys gardening (in particular bonsai), DIY, badminton and flying an ever increasing collection of kites on wide empty beaches.
