Proposals for the refurbishment and extension of a Grade II listed church in Widnes have been granted planning approval by Halton Borough Council.

The church, which was built in the 1860's, was originally designed by E.W. Pugin, and has been identified by the Victorian Society as being one of the ten most endangered Victorian buildings in Britain.

The proposals for Halton Voluntary Action, refurbish the existing church for office usage, providing also a two storey extension to the side.

The extension has been designed in conjunction with the local authority conservation team, and consists of a contrasting modern zinc clad building attached to the existing church via a glazed link.

Halton Voluntary Action are currently hoping to source additional funding in order to bring the project to fruition.
